How is Scientific agreement and consensus arrived at? Have you heard that 97% of scientists agree on climate change? Where does this statistic come from and what does it mean?

More recently in August 2023 Climate Scientist Judith Curry reported how “bad data” initially swept her along as the darling of climate alarmists, until she discovered that the truth was something different. She admits that the “overwhelming consensus” on the climate change crisis is “manufactured” by a massive government-funded climate alarmism complex.

It’s not only Climate Science in which consensus is manufactured
In her eye opening article “Scientific consensus – a manufactured construct” Maryanne Demasi, PhD, explores how mainstream Science has been corrupted into a tool to manipulate public behaviour. Various “experts” and convincing arguments are wheeled out in front of us and we are repeatedly told to trust “The Science”. We are told to do so because the “vast majority of scientists agree” and the science is “settled” and so you’d have to be insane to question that, right? But we are starting to realise just why this is evidently untrue. “The Science” we are told to trust, is not functioning at all as true Science, in search of truth.
Widely accepted scientific theories, depend on a consensus being reached over time among the scientific community. However the critical point here is that for this to have validity, on the voyage of discovery towards truth, consensus must be achieved without censorship or reprisal.
In her article, Maryanne cites a number of key references to show how it has been easy to reach the false premise of scientific consensus by squelching dissenting voices, using an array of methods which have effectively de-funded, censored and vilified those with different results and theorems.
Why is this happening? Perhaps after reading the article you will draw some of you own conclusions.
